Tonight's contest is from an Etsy Store that has the most amazing items imaginable! When I'm out and about in the Handmade Product World I look for products that are above average, creative, and safe.
Mama Wess makes the world's cutest, sweetest, most drool worthy Socksters that I have ever encountered in my life. They are the absolute perfect gift to give to any young child. I can guarantee you that they will quickly become a new best friend! I have my eye on one of them for my youngest who is such a cuddle monster... but thought that I'd give you guys first dibs on these adorable little creations!
Featured above are the following Socksters (starting at the top left hand corner): Baby Bunny Blue Eyes; Sleepy Greenhorn; Little Brownie; Chunky Monkey
Socksters are completely 100% baby safe. There are no small parts that can be pulled off and put in the mouth to create a choking hazard.
What a great memento these would be as your children/grand children grow older. Can you imagine them being passed on as a favorite childhood toy? I sure can!
The Socksters were what first attracted me to Mama Wess' store, but it didn't take long for me to see that there is much more available of the same high quality.
I am sure that everyone who's ever had a youngster first learning to eat can attest to the fact that when you're out an about its not always practical to bring along a bib. It can be a messy ordeal getting it home.... and truth be told kids quickly learn to get those pesky things off! Enter the bib clips! These are so handy. Buy a couple, keep em in the diaper bag, the car, your purse and you'll never be scrambling come food time again.
These bib clips are awesome. They are just the right length and the clasp on them is child proof (I swear it has to be as at first I couldn't figure out how to get it open - lol). They come in oodles and oodles of adorable patterns and are a great price!
Also included in our goody pack from Tina was an adorable little contraption called the Tooth Fairy Pillow. Both of my kids are a little young to be losing teeth but that didn't stop them from fighting over it! Malie finally won out and has been glued to it ever since. It hasn't left her side (let alone her hand) in days. She sleeps with it, eats with it, brings it to school. Miss Malie is such a little cuddle bug that she always needs to have her security item with her. Her favorite of the moment is this little pillow.
It is designed to hold a tooth for the tooth fairy in an itty bitty little pocket, and then be filled with a quarter after the tooth has been collected. Too cute! I'm sure my dear old Dad would have loved one of these while his 5 kids were losing teeth! I still remember him being upset the morning I ran downstairs with a $20 bill from the tooth fairy that was left be accident.
Tina also included 3 beautiful holiday themed hairclips in our package. Awesome little clips with great design, and they stayed right in place just like they promised to do. The clips are lined with white velvet so that they stay in place in even in peach fuzz! I love the holiday theme and the price is amazing - perfect for filling stockings!
And of course what would a post about cute stuff for kiddos without a couple more pictures of my Superstar Models?
Today Tala was not interested in having her picture taken one iota, however Malie in a complete switch of attitude was more then happy to oblige! I love these pictures of her smiling for the camera and having fun instead of her usual scrunchy face!
Tina has generously offered one lucky reader the opportunity to have a shopping spree in her store! The lucky winner will receive a giftcard worth $20 to use in her shop. How amazing is that? I know what I'd get!
To enter visit Mama Wess' etsy shop. Have a good look around and come back and tell me the name of one specific item (please do not say that you would buy a Sockster, or bib clips, or a tooth fairy pillow - let me know which one) you will buy with your giftcard! That is one entry.
***please be sure to leave your email address in your comment if it is not available in your profile. If I cannot get ahold of you, you cannot win***
Looking for more ways to win? Additional entries will be given for completing any or all of the following. Please be sure to leave a comment for each item you complete so that you get
all of your entries into the contest.
* blog about this contest and post the link in the comment field

The old adage is so accurate that handmade is better. This is why this year I am focusing on handmade gifts for friends and family. While I know its not 100% possible to give everything to everyone handmade I am making a conscientious decision to work on it.
Even my 4 year old is getting in the spirit and has already picked up my Christmas Present from a local seller in Prince Rupert. We were at the craft fair on the 15th and she found a beautiful necklace with a pink stone that she could not take her eyes off. The seller was so nice and patient with her as she counted out her money, and then let Tala help with stringing the necklace up. Tala is so proud that she "made" Mommy a necklace - and I tell you this. That kid has great taste!
The truth is that I would rather receive a beautiful item made for me then the most expensive mass produced item in the store. Sure ipods, digital cameras and camcorders have their place... but the gifts that come from the heart are so much more special. But if you're like me and a tad lacking in the crafting ability department its a great thing to have a site like Etsy out there!
Everything on etsy is handmade by artisans. I personally would rather give my hard earned money to a person rather then a huge corporation. I'm sure that I'm not the only one. And in this time of economic uncertainty it is more important for us to support each other.
Recently I have been spotlighting via my review and giveaway processes quite a few wonderful Etsy Sellers. These are a very small but great representatiuon of the quality goods available on the market these days!
Here is a complete list of my favorite Handmade Mavens that have been spotlighted at the Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! in the past month!

What can a girl never have enough of? Well if you've been reading my blog lately you'd probably guess that I would say either bags or earrings and you'd be totally correct! Today I focus on beautiful purses from Marnie of Adorn with A&M.
When I'm looking for a new purse the first thing that I look for is a pattern that appeals to me. I don't do plain black purses. That's just not who I am. I want to be noticed for carrying an awesome bag. Marnie creates beautifully designed purses that are in some awesome designs. My personal favorite is the Medieval Magic Purse. The colours in the purse are just amazing, and I love the little detail of having the bow included in the strap of the purse. Its little details like this that truly help a purse stand out!
Cute eh? To make it even better all of Marnie's purses come complete with a purse organizer that will keep all of your essentials in one place. No more digging through your page desperately searching for your keys, your lip gloss, or a pen. Its all right there! If your purse is anything like mine (it closely resembles the Bermuda Triangle... things go in but rarely come back out!) you'll cherish this little extra!
I was fortunate enough to sample this beautiful organizer and my purse will never turn back into the disaster zone that was before! Not only is the fabric beautiful, its durable construction will last. Its not going to fall apart on you in a couple of weeks. Is is large enough that you can take it out and move it into other purses with ease.
My honest to goodness purse! Notice how nice and organized it is! Finally I'll be able to find things with ease. Now if only Marnie could organize my office too!
You could bring home a purse of your very own too!
Marnie has generously offered one Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! reader the chance to win a $15 giftcard for use on any purse from her shop (** you will be responsible to pay the difference in price from the listing price of the purse and giftcard - please do not enter if you do not agree to this condition ** The Giftcard is only valid for use on a purse **)
To enter head over to Adorn with A & M and check out the amazing designs that Marnie has available in her Purse Section. Come back here and let me know what your favorite pattern is. Its that easy!

In my Etsy Travels a couple weeks ago I found a wonderful seller who's son has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. The amazing part is that she donates a portion of her sales to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in hopes that someday there will be a cure for this devastating condition that currently affects approximately 30,000 Americans.
I was ecstatic when Yvonne agreed to participate in a review and giveaway with A Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! Her jewelry pieces are absolutely gorgeous and I'm excited to share them with you. And let me tell you this. I had such a hard time choosing just a handful of items to share with you today. So I choose 2 handfuls! Being that I have so many images to share with you I have had to call in an old friend of mine to assist - picnik.com!
One of Yvonne's biggest sellers is her Athena Little Owl Earrings. In the coming months they will even be featured in Bird Talk Magazine. These earrings are currently in transit to me and I cannot wait for them to arrive - I will fill you in on all the wonderful details after they "land".
The excerpt on her write up gives you the mythology behind the earrings. Here it is:
A Little Tidbit... Owls have been connected with mythology and mystical symbolism since the earliest of civilizations. The owl has been used to represent many different things both good and bad. It is the symbol for the "m" sound in Egyptian hieroglyphics and is often drawn with a broken leg to keep the bird of prey from coming to life. In Greek mythology the owl is connected with the goddess Athena and is used to symbolize WISDOM. The Pawnees view the owl as a symbol of PROTECTION. ....Basically, when you wear these earrings they will protect you and make you more intelligent. Alright, that might be a stretch, but, they will make your ears look GREAT!
Now that is quite the pair of earrings! And I'm sure that we all have days where can use a little bit of a nudge in the intelligence compartment... especially with little kids running around!
Yvonne not only creates beautiful earrings (which I will spotlight again in a bit) but also divine necklaces. These necklaces are divine. I am in awe of her amazing talent. Can you not picture yourself wearing at least one of these out for supper? To the office? Or even to a fancy affair?
Featured in this collage are the: Amore Necklace; Cleopatra Necklace; Love Nest II Necklace; Modern Renaissance Necklace

Interesting topic for this cold and wet windy Sunday afternoon. My Dad brought me and the girls out for a wonderful breakfast at the Crest Hotel this morning and then brought me shopping at Shoppers to redeem some points! He has finally been bitten by the coupon/point savings bug! He's been heeing and hawing since me and the girls moved home, taking the coupons I hand him for free items with great hesitation. Until today!
The wonderful people over at Frugal Shopper really came through to help me with getting Christmas together for the girls. With my new job not starting until December 1st and having extremely limited shifts at work the last 2 weeks money is tight. I was worried about being able to make Christmas special for the kiddos and posted asking for trades. I was able to trade for quite a few points but was also on the receiving end of some Random Act of Kindness (RAOK) gifts too! My Frugal Family never fails to amaze me in how they can band together and help out during times of need. The Good Karma Section is always active with people looking for specific coupons and I would say 99% of the time their wish is granted.
I had to smile as we were heading around the Shoppers DrugMart picking up items for Christmas and the kids. I bought $100 worth of items for Christmas that are now stashed away upstairs to be wrapped later! I won't be posting a picture of those items... but will share the following details:
Redeemed for $100, used $2.50 in coupons & had a SCOP (scanning code of practice) worth $2.23! Paid taxes which was $12.23 for $104.73 worth of merchandise!
I still had points left over from 2 last minute trades and so I redeemed for another $200 worth of products for the house. Which is where I had to smile. My Dad was so excited he was "running" around the store like a kid in a candy store! It was so awesome. He kept grabbing things and coming back to the cart asking if he could grab them too!
Ended up redeeming for $200. Used $12 in coupons plus had $20 SCOP (which I will delve into later). Total out of pocket $24.14. Walked away with $248 worth of products!!!! How awesome is that?
And of course what would a post about savings be without the ceremonious picture? So here is my loot of the day!
Holy moly olie that's a lot of stuff! I am so relieved to have stocked up on diapers! The Huggies were regularly $29.98 on sale for $25.98... had 2x $5 off coupons that I used - but somewhere between my hand & the till one of them disappeared. Which was too bad, but I can't complain. The Pampers were on for $15.98 less $3 off coupon from the Brandsaver. Grabbed some food & laundry supplies, and also a couple items that my Dad snuck in there... he truly was just like a kid in a candy store.
In the top corner of the picture do you see the 2 brush sets? Well those were my piece de la resistance! See larger picture below
These Quo Brush Sets regularly retail for $20. The tag on the shelf said $12 but they scanned at $14. So I got 2 $20 sets for $2 each! Totally awesome score and they will make great additions to the Christmas Pile!
And so that marks the end of my shopping day today! Spent $36.37 and brought home $352.73 worth of products! Used $14.50 worth of coupons and had $22.23 worth of SCOP!
To all my Frugal Family reading this post thank you so much for everything! The girls will absolutely adore the goodies I picked up and sent out the car with my Dad before they came in. And being stocked up on necessities is a huge blessing! I only wish I had been able to buy more food products but our Shoppers is without a huge grocery aisle. The selection is very limited. But either way a great big successful shopping trip!
That is the total end of my shopping for the next 2 weeks though as it is time to enter extreme saving mode as my next pay cheque will be for 10 hours only. Yikes!

Last month I was given the amazing opportunity to review a set of products for Belli Skincare. I of course jumped at the opportunity and there were 2 products that jumped out at me on their site for my family.
The first product was the Scar Reducer Serum which anyone who has had a Cesarean will understand the importance of reducing those scars. I have a horribly hideous scar left over from my 2nd cesarean that seriously impacts my self image. I am still testing this product and will update all of you at a later date! So far so great though!
The second series of products was the Belli Baby Line. Miss Malie has always had trouble skin. To the point that we had to journey to the Children's Hospital to meet with a dermatologist for answers on making her more comfortable. Finding a baby wash that doesn't cause her to break out in rashes and scream in pain at every diaper change or give her a bath has proved to be a struggle.
I was pleasantly surprised (actually I jumped up and down in excitement to be perfectly honest) when I opened my package and found a gift set consisting of a Baby Wash, Body Lotion and Talc-free Baby Powder. The presentation was great! Far more then I had anticipated and let me tell you that the quality of the products far surpasses the presentation.
The first product that I tried was the Nourish Me Enriched Body Lotion. Not only was it gentle on delicate baby skin it made my skin soft as a baby! It even took care of the horrible dry skin pulls on my feet! And the softness lasted all day.
That night we also tried out the Calm Me Hair & Body Wash. Finally, at long last, a body wash that didn't leave Malie's delicate skin red and itchy. The body wash left her skin and hair silky soft and smooth. The wash also has a very pleasant scent that is divine to cuddle up with your baby and smell.
The 2nd obstacle for the body wash to surpass was tackling Miss Tala's curly mop. Her hair is so curly and out of control its almost impossible to brush. Most shampoos on the market turn her hair into an unfortunate rats nest of tangles. To my great surprise this Hair & Body Wash not only calmed Malie's skin it also was gentle enough that it didn't create a hair nightmare!
One last tidbit of information about the Hair & Body Wash is that it is so amazingly concentrated that you barely have to use any to get a full head of bubbles! We are still on the trial size bottle, and with washing 2 little girls every night that says a lot after a month!
The third product in the pack was the Talc Free Baby Powder. Not a product that I have ever used before. After using it a couple of times however I am hooked. I do not know what I did before making this discovery! It works wonders for controlling that seemingly never ended diaper rash that we've been plagued with forever!
All in all I rate Belli Baby as "Belli Belli Good!" (Get it? Belli Belli Good - Very Very Good? LOL). It is a great product and would make a great gift for new parents. And also if you have a little one like mine with skin that is so sensitive that everything acts as an irritant give these products a try. You will be pleasantly surprised!
Belli offers a complete line of products that are tested to be safe for use during pregnancy, post-partum and on your babes delicate skin!

Someone once said to me that we all need something every now and then to make us feel special. And it is so true. In my experience one thing that is a surefire way to pick yourself up is a beautiful, exquisite pair of earrings. So when I found Helene's Dreams I knew I was in luck!
I have a huge collection of earrings that I rotate through regularly. However since I received my pair of Oregon Rustic Fall Flower earrings I have been neglecting the other pieces in my jewelry box.
These earrings are divine. They are dainty, not over powering, but they command attention. The orange flowers are well complemented by the Jasper beads. I have a weakness for jewelry that features Jasper. I adore Jasper. To me Jasper is a very powerful stone and it instills in me its power. When I wear Jasper I feel powerful, like I can conquer the world. That is a great feeling!
These particular earrings also feature gunmetal chainlinks which adds to the rustic charm of them. They are very light and do not pull on the ear at all which is awesome!
Have somewhere special to go this winter? An office Christmas Party perhaps? Are you looking for a beautiful pair of earrings that are elegant and will go with anything? Well you can't get any more elegant then pearls, and you will get so many compliments wearing these Black Moon Pearl Earrings from Helene's Dreams!
Not an earring person? Helene also currently has this beautiful bracelet listed.
Helene's Dreams has generously offered Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go readers the opportunity to win a pair of beautiful earrings from her shop! The decision on which pair was left up to me and finally after much deliberation I chose the Oregon Rustic Rose Bouquet. This pair is very similar to pair that I have, and will make some lady out there very happy!
Interested? I thought you would be! To enter, head over to Helene's Dreams' Etsy Shop and have a look around. Come back here and let me know what your favorite item is. It's that easy!
****please be sure to leave your email address in your comment if it is not in your Blogger Profile! If I cannot get ahold of you, you cannot win!****
Additional entries can be obtained by completing any or all of the following. Please leave a separate comment for each item you complete so that you receive all of your entries!

First off I would like to thank each and every one of my sponsors. Without you this contest would never have been as big of a success as it was! You guys are amazing!
Secondly I would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter the giveaways! You guys are super duper awesome! Congratulations to all the winners of the 11 daily contests. I have confirmed all of you as winners and your information has been forwarded to the sponsors.
But that's not the end of the giveaways! I will announce the winner of the coveted "Christmas Pickle" Ornament shortly! And yes I did say Christmas Pickle. I will post the story behind the Christmas Pickle and I'm sure you will all be running to the store to get your own as they are pretty gosh darn awesome!
This series of contests saw a whopping 1021 entries into the 11 draws! Both the Cottage Country Candle & Home Studio Scrabble Tile Pendant Draws saw the largest number of responses, tied at 155 a piece!
My followers list on the blog has grown rapidly (beyond my wildest expectations) and we now boast 67 followers of my little ole blog!
A Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! has received a whopping 5000+ page hits since the beginning of the contests, thru to the announcing of the last prize this morning. How awesome is that?
Once again I would like to sincerely thank everyone who's participated! I currently have 3 giveaways on the go right now so be sure to check those out as well! Critters Habitat/Hildeguard's Lair, The Worst Toy Ever (aka Mr Pillow who is in my opinion actually very clever) & Room Threads are each offering up amazing prizes to one lucky reader!
In addition I have 5 more confirmed sponsors who will be launching in the next 2 weeks, plus I have a couple more in the works that I'm super excited about! So keep checking in for more great giveaways and more from the wonderful World of the Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go!
And now back to the pickle (had to sneak that in there - I dare everyone to try and use
that in their day to day conversation tomorrow).
Here's the scoop on the Christmas Pickle:
After the kiddos header off to bed on Christmas Eve you hide the Christmas Pickle Ornament on the tree. In the morning instead of the kiddos ripping right into the presents under the tree, they take the time to have a look around the tree and take in the beauty of it all. The child who finds the pickle first will either get a special "pickle present" or have the honor of opening the first gift under the tree.
This appeals to me as Christmas is to be savoured with the family, not rushed through. Plus I think we can all use a couple minutes to sip a coffee around the tree after being woken up by overly excited children at 5 in the morning!
And there you have it! One lucky winner will receive a Christmas Pickle of their very own to start this tradition at home if they're so inclined!
And so without further ado I present the winner courtesy of Random.org!

My favorite type of shopping trip! Free or mostly free! Yesterday with my FPC's (free product coupons) in hand I hit the shopping centers!
Are you ready to see my loot?
My first stop was Safeway where the Crest Pro Health was on sale for $2 each. Less $2 manufacturer's coupon and I have beautiful clean teeth for taxes only! $0.24 each x 4. $0.96.
While at Safeway I also grabbed 3 x Glade Candles with FPC. $6.99 less $6.99... had to pay taxes, but that's okay! $0.84 cents each x4. Paid $2.52.
Picked up Glade Plug Ins Refills. On sale for $4.99 each. Used a buy 1 get 1 free coupon. Got the 2nd one free. $6.18 paid for 2 refills.
Attached to all of the Glade Products were coupons for a free New Release Movie Rental from Blockbuster @ $5 something each! Will trade those as there isn't a Blockbuster anywhere near the boonies!
Do you see the cute little Teddy Bear? Regular price is $14.99 but he was on clearance for $4.99. The perfect price for the $5 giftswap my girls are doing! So I grabbed him too!
Total spent at Safeway: $15.45.. walked away with $45.94 worth of merchandise. $20 something is free movie rentals & 20 bonus airmiles reward miles!!!
Next we headed over to Extra Foods as I had a $10 giftcard to use that I got for free doing a survey! (Gotta love surveys with nice payouts like that! I'm waiting on a $50 cheque too!).
Picked up the pack of pop (my guilty pleasure)... $3.32
The gum... $0.73
3x Kinder Surprise (not pictured)... $0.97 x3=$2.91 (should have only been 2 but Miss Malie dropped hers on the floor)
Used the following FPC coupons:
Free Cheese Whiz up to $4.82 value... least expensive one was $4.97... paid $0.15 difference
Coca Cola 591mL free... $1.37 value (paid deposit & recycling fee $0.08)
Total value of goods at Extra Foods: $14.61. Used $6.19 in coupons. Paid $8.42 on Giftcard. Total out of pocket $0!
Up to Shoppers Drug Mart next.
Jergens Naturals Moisturizer - $5.99 - used FPC
2x Dove Go Fresh Body Wash @ $7.49 - used FPC
Total cost of goods: $21.97.. less coupons: $21.97. Paid taxes in the amount of $2.52!
Grand total of the day!
Cost of Goods: $82.52!
Total Paid: $17.97
Total Savings: $64.55!!!!!
Plus rec'd 20 bonus Airmiles, 200 Optimum Points & 4 free Blockbuster Rentals!
Now that's what I call great shopping!

When I was approached by Room Threads about the possibility of doing a review and giveaway for their business I was ecstatic! You see they have a pretty gosh darn impressive resume!
Room Threads' beautiful bedding was featured on Extreme Home Makeover 2008! And not only that! The crew at Extreme Home Makeover loved her work so much that they've invited Sue back for the 2009 Finale!
Impressive or what? If that doesn't speak for the immense quality of Sue's products I don't know what else will!
Isn't this adorable? I know 2 little princesses in my house that would go absolutely crazy over these beautiful sheets! The quality is top notch and Sue puts a lot of effort into designing her products.
Isn't this Dragon design absolutely adorable?
She has a full line of sheets for both boys & girls. Suitable for toodlers right up to tweens. And is more then happy to work with perspective buyers to create the set that is perfect for the lucky recipient!
A recent addition to Sue's line up is a very innovative product that I have fallen in love with!
I am a self confessed tote bag addict. What makes these bags special is the fact that they come with a reversible cover that buttons in place so that you can match every outfit! And not only that, you can buy replacement covers from her shop so that you can always have the most stylish colours/designs of the season!
The tote bags are roomy with room for absolutely anything that you can possibly think to bring with you!
I love the fact that these bags are of high quality construction and won't fall apart on you! I also love the fact that you can switch out the covers to match your mood of the day!
Sue has generously offered one lucky Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! reader the opportunity to win a $25 gift certificate for her store!
To enter, head on over to Room Threads and have a look around! Come back to A Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go and let me know what you will spend your $25 on. And that's it! Super easy.
Looking for more chances to win? Additional entries will be granted for each of the following that you complete (please be sure to leave a separate comment for each item so that you receive all your chances to win!).

Hello? Who are you and what did you do to The Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go?
It's me! I swear. I don't usually venture into the Entertainment news realm. Its not that I don't follow Entertainment news.. I read my divine gossip email religiously... I just keep my opinions to myself.
Today however I feel compelled to send a bouquet out to Samantha Ronson for standing up to PETA.
Ronson was responding to events that saw Lindsay Lohan pelted with flour bombs outside a Paris nightclub.
On her blog Ronson posted:
This to me has to be commended. While I do not condone, nor condemn the wearing of fur; I remain neutral on the subject. Physically assaulting someone to get your point out is in no way acceptable. That seriously crosses the line.
"It's a pity that some groups feel the need to assault people as opposed to fighting with words. Whenever I feel the need to vent about something that feels unfair to me I reach for my computer, I don't run out of the house with abusive intentions. I don't expect everyone to react the same way, but I do expect people to respect each other."
"There is nothing remotely 'fashionable' about the torture and death of animals killed for fur. Lindsay Lohan might be able to ignore images of bloody animals skinned alive for their pelts, but we hope a dash of flour will help her rise to the occasion and forsake fur once and for all."As an organization that stands up for the rights of animals one would expect more restraint in their treatment of humans.

Now that I've gotten your attention I have no idea why Amber calls these little guys the Worst Toy Ever.
With great excitement I present to you the Special Edition Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! Mr. Pillow!
Isn't he adorable? This is Bah Humbug Mr. Pillow. He will complete with a little write up that says:
I was doing my daily Etsy look around and when I found Amber's site I fell in love with Mr. Pillow.
"Bah Humbug Mr. Pillow --
This Mr. Pillow can't believe he offered to have Christmas dinner at his house.
For the third year in a row."

Mr. Pillow - The Worst Toy Ever was born one night when I was working on my very first quilting project on a comically small and low-powered sewing machine.Truth be told, my 4 year old and 2 year old are now obsessed with Mr. Pillow! They cannot wait for their very own Mr. Pillow to arrive!
Not sure the machine could make it through a patchwork layer, batting, and the ticking cloth I was using as the backing, I did a small test with some scraps.
I guess I got a bit carried away, because I ended up with a rectangular-ish little guy with a disgruntled expression on his face. He was quickly adopted by my older son and has been much loved since then.

In the last week or so I've spotlighted on some serious clothing neglect for myself & my youngest daughter. One person who is not lacking in the clothing department is Miss Tala! Her birthday party yesterday affirmed that she is in fact a future Stacey London.
Tala lives for clothing (well ok probably Wonton Soup, Chicken Chow Mein & then clothes)... so she was so ecstatic to receive 3 complete outfits yesterday! Including one that she hasn't taken off (from me and Malie - patting myself on the back on that one!).
These are 2 of the complete outfits... the black pants actually go with the sweater top. The third complete outfit is as I mentioned firmly attached to Tala... you can kind of see it in this picture below... but more then anything its just a super adorable picture of my daughters sharing lovies.
All in all it was a great day yesterday. Tala had dance class so I brought her to that in the morning. Malie and I surprised her after class with her very first bouquet of flowers. You should have seen her face light up. She's been after me for seemingly forever to buy flowers. I never do as its really just an added expense to a Bargain Hunting Mommy. I keep telling her flowers are for special occaisions... and well, you can't get much more special then 4th birthdays!
We had mountains of Chinese Food, delicious (free) birthday cake & great time with friends & family. We had 3 non-shows but Tala still enjoyed her party thoroughly and didn't even notice that the party was on the small side.
Did I say free birthday cake? Oh that's right I did. You may be wondering how I could get such a beautiful, expensive cake for free. Well I didn't... Tala did!
But its not actually that happy of a story. On Thursday we were downtown running around and Tala had to go potty. We were right in front of Baker Boy Bakery and so we ran in. I figured, hey we're great customers (between me & my Dad we're in there 2-4 times a week and had a $40 cake order in)... there shouldn't be a problem.
The girl who was working made a huge deal about how she can't let just anyone in the back. So we left in search of another bathroom. Didn't make it and poor Tala had a potty accident. She was so mad that she decided she didn't want a cake from there. Totally understandable.
I work in food service, but I also understand that there are times were there are exceptions to the rules. I'm sorry but I fail to see the issue in letting a 3 year old use the potty. When you're that age and have to go, you gotta go!
So I went into the bakery the next day and cancelled the cake in person and explained the situation. Went and ordered another cake from Safeway. When I got home I got a phone call from the Baker that the big boss felt horrible about what happened to Tala and wanted to buy her cake for her. So I accepted as a Bargain Hunting Mommy cannot pass up free cake (everything tastes better when its free... lol). Tala was sceptical but fell in love with the cake when she saw it!
And so... my daughter turned 4 yesterday.
Stay tuned later for another amazing contest! This one is very unique and has been dubbed "The Worst Toy Ever"... curious? Well be sure to check it out!

Recently in my Etsy travels (I am so addicted to Etsy right now that its not even funny - far too many amazing sellers!) I found Critters Habitat which lead me to another discovery, Hildeguards Lair.
Sharon has 2 amazing shops, each with products that appeal to many sides of this Bargain Hunting Mommy.
Hildeguard's Lair features some absolutely amazing chainmaille items. What exactly is chainmaille you ask? Great question! Chainmaille is new to me, and totally fascinating. And well the easiest way to explain is actually to show you.

Impressed? I knew you would be! And with 448 sales I know that I'm not the only one who loves Sharon's Work!
These are absolutely beautiful, unique pieces of jewelery that will please anyone! It falls into the category that I call "Conversation Starters".
Sharon's other store appeals to the Mom side of me. I am always on the lookout for handmade products that are safe. I'm sure all the parents out there are nodding their heads in agreement. I am so tired of hearing of toys being recalled - in my opinion there is absolutely no excuse for a children's toy not being 100% safe. Which is why I was happy to find Critters Habitat.
Critter Habitat features (among other things) Amigurumi animals like this squirrel
Cute eh? They are totally adorable little creatures, and something that I personally would feel good about handing to my little ones to play with. I am big on imagination toys. I can see the girls playing for hours with these little animals.
Sharon has generously offered a $15 gift certificate to one lucky Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go reader! The gift certificate is valid in either of her beautiful stores, on the purchase of anything that suits your fancy!
Interested? Head on over to Hildeguards Lair and Critters Habitat. Come back and post your favorite item from both stores! ----> Important! If you don't do this your comment will be deleted!
It's that easy!

It hasn't just been Malie who's had some wardrobe neglect. I have been stuck in a rut since having children. Its just been so much easier to throw on a pair of sweatpants and tie my hair up in a pony tail.
Now that I'm leaving the world of uniformed work I need to have some nice clothes and so I've been slowly building my collection. So far so good!
The only store in this town other then Zellers is Reitmans and thank goodness they appear to have been custom made for me! Ha ha ha.
The truth is that I haven't enjoyed clothes shopping for years. Its not a lot of fun when you're dealing with a post baby body and nothing looks right at all. Finally after a significant amount of weightloss I am ecstatic to get out there and shop. Realistically I know that my body still isn't perfect (and realistically I know it never will be), but I think I look great regardless.
Enter my new absolutely gorgeous shirt! Its actually so beautiful that my gruff ole Dad complimented me on it.
And a total steal of a deal! Regularly $36.. priced to clear at $12.99. You can't beat that. Its an amazing shirt and an amazing price. Very happy Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! here.

Yes I did just use that word. I have a feeling that I've been dealing a horrible case of clothing neglect to my youngest.
Malie is an absolutely adorable little sister. She is the sweetest, most thoughtful little person that I have ever encountered. Plus she has such a mischievous streak to her. She is a total 'class clown'. Always doing something to get a laugh. Being that she has a big sister she lives in hand me downs. I can honestly not remember buying her anything new other then a bathing suit this summer. Insert horrible Mommy guilt here.
Now, the question remains, is this Mommy guilt mis-placed? Its not like she's walking around in a potato sack. Her clothes are all beautiful, but they don't necessarily match her personality. And she doesn't know the joy that Tala knows of heading into the clothing shop and selecting items, and actually bringing them home.
A couple weeks back I brought both girls to Zellers to pick up some new pants for Tala. She needed them desparately. Poor Malie stood there staring at the racks of beautiful, brightly colored clothes with the green eyed monster trying to edge his way in. Finally (as I knew it would happen)... she grabbed a pair of emerald pants off the rack and there was no prying them from her hands. We ended up going through the checkout and purchased them, and they went back into her hands, clutched to her chest in fear that I would change my mind. Thankfully they were a size 4 and fit Tala... but Miss Malie insisted on wearing these pants for days. She is such a skinny Minnie that they were just falling off her left, right, and centre, but she didn't mind.
So today when we headed into the Bargain Shop to pick up birthday cards for Tala I succumbed and bought her a new shirt. I had pulled an orange tee off the rack in a size 4 and asked Malie if she thought her sister would like it. She looked at the shirt and in her firmest voice imaginable says to me
"I like it, for me please".
Her face was so determined and that's when it fully clicked in my head. I have seriously neglected allowing her choice in her wardrobe. I know that in the grand scale of things its small. She has a roof over her head, food to eat, and a loving household to grow up in... but sometimes the little things make a huge difference (as I'm well aware with my new sheets that brightened up my day awhile back - well actually the month so far!).
So off we went to the till with her carrying her new shirt and 2 Disney Princess Advent Calendars she grabbed on the way. The clerk put the shirt in the bag with the other items we picked up and I put it in the stroller. But we couldn't leave until Malie had checked to make sure that the shirt had in fact been purchased.
Oh the things you can find to feel guilty about as a parent!

When I found Tuttie Bears on Etsy I was immediately impressed. There are a lot of tutus on the marketplace, but these ones stood out to me as they are edgier. The first thing that came to mind was oh my gosh an Avril "Lebean" tutu (my almost 4 year old is a huge Avril fan but calls her Avril Labean instead of Lavigne - so cute!). Now I'm not quite sure that that was what Annie had in mind when she was designing her tutus. But either way it totally works in her favour!
Adorable or what? Its actually a part of a set called Leopard print OU with matching tutu... but the name Avril "Labean" tutu is growing on me. I may have to pitch it to Annie.Posted by Imanoptimisticbeauty at 8:55 AM 79 comments Links to this post
Last year around Christmas time I developed a severe addiction to the Baby Marketplace. Kim had these absolutely amazing Bargain Boxes that I gobbled up for my little ones. They sure were fashionable. So I can speak from experience that the products offered by the Baby Marketplace are top notch quality that any parent would be proud to have for their children. The Baby Marketplace has recently changed hands and is now run by Cathy. They still offer the same great quality products at great prices... just with a different face behind the mayhem!
Now, if you asked me what my favorite product that Baby Marketplace sells I honestly couldn't narrow it down to just one. They stock high quality beautiful clothing from designers such as Knucklehead, Mexx, Deux Par Deux, and Baby Legs. They also have an great selection of shoes including Bical Grippers.
Last year I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of Bical Grippers. Now let me tell you this. If you're looking for a great shoe for the water, paddling, running around at the beach or waterpark this is your shoe. They are very stylish, with creative patterns, and well designed. But they don't just stay in the waterpark. Any parent frustrated by their little ones immense desire to rip their shoes off left, right and centre will rejoice in these shoes. They are practically impossible for the little ones to get off their feet. Which means no more back tracking trying to find that missing shoe! No more digging under the back seat to find just where the shoes bounced off to. That in itself is worth its weight in gold!
Cathy has generously offered one lucky Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! reader the chance to win their very own pair of Bical Grippers, in your favorite pattern, sized for your little one. Awesome possum!
If you're interested in winning your very own pair of Bical Grippers head on over to the Baby Marketplace. Have a look around and pick your favorite item (it can be anything from the store not just the Grippers). Come back here and let me know in a comment what your favorite item is and you're entered. It's that easy!Posted by Imanoptimisticbeauty at 9:39 PM 63 comments Links to this post
Awhile back you may remember me offering up 5 copies of the wonderful book Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay (you can read my review here)...
Well in my blog travels today I happened upon the blog of one of the lucky winners along with her review of the book. Kim over at MommyKnows has hosted so many great contests in the past that I was overjoyed when her name came up for a copy of the book. You can see her review here
While there you have the opportunity to post and win a $10 starbucks giftcard and her used copy of Sarah's Key.
If you're not familiar with the story behind Sarah's Key you will be moved, and probably wonder why the Vel d'hiv roundup wasn't taught in school. As I mentioned in my review I had an amazing teacher in high school who pushed the bounds on acceptable topics covered in class. He firmly believed that the youth had the responsibility to learn about all of the dark spots in history in order to prevent them from happening again. But the internment and eventual mass execution of far too many Jewish people, including French born Jewish children was not covered.
Sarah's Key will move you. Will make you think. And will more then likely get you on Google searching everything that you can possibly find out about this dark period in French history.
The characters in Sarah's Key are so unforgettable, and real. Tatiana does a wonderful job of creating her characters, and they have so much depth that its almost as if you're right there with them going through the events that transpired.
I read this book over 2 nights, it is such an amazing book that I just couldn't bear to put it down. When I wasn't reading it I was constantly thinking about what would transpire next. A true sign of greatly authored book in my opinion!
The subject matter behind Sarah's Key may be hard for some people to read. Looking at my 2 young children while reading the book broke my heart thinking that it could have been them. The way the Jewish people were segregated out in the first place is hard enough to fathom. Though I did find solace in the fact that there were people brave enough to stand up for and help the Jewish families during this time. At great cost if they were caught helping the so called enemy. The fact that people were willing to risk persecution to stand up for the injustice forced upon these families for their religion helps restore my faith in humanity.

I love products that are homemade and remind me of my Grandma. There is something truly amazing about pulling on a handmade touque, gloves or scarf and being surrounded by warmth. Which is why I'm so happy to have Caiti on board for today's giveaway!
That being said this isn't your Grandma's Crochet. Caiti creates beautiful hip pieces that are sure to please anyone. My very own Dad tried to steal the beautiful touque that Caiti sent!
This "Beehive Beret" has garnered much attention since arriving in my house. It looks absolutely amazing on and can be worn in either the beret fashion as shown above or pulled down over the ears in traditional touque form.
It is so warm and soft and lovely. I absolutely adore it. As I mentioned previously so does my Dad so that says a lot about the wonderful design Caiti has created. The colour is divine. I personally feel that the yellow tones go amazingly well with red, brown and black coloured hair. Something about the colour just draws your attention to it and sets your hair colour on fire.

Today I am a lazy slug on the rug... lol. I'm exhausted but thoroughly enjoying my down-time with the kiddos. Tala & Malie are also thoroughly enjoying their Mommy day. Tala's off to the boat with my Dad (their weekly trip to make sure the "old girl" is still floating). Malie's napping so I thought I'm pop in and say hiya!
I've been so busy with the contest that the blog has lost a little bit of "me". I absolutely adore doing the contests, they're amazing, lots of fun, and I will continue to do them... so no worries on that front. But I have been very consumed with running things smoothly, putting 110% into writing the reviews and giveaway posts that it leaves little time for other things.
When you add the 2 jobs that I am currently working, caring for my adorable babes and trying to stay on top of the tornado that flies through the house numerous times a day and I'm wiped! This is the first weekend that I've had off in about a month. So that's awesome. I'm currently waiting to finalize my position at a financial institution in town so that's super exciting! M-F, weekends and stat holidays off.. including Christmas! As a Mommy being home with my kiddos is important, but I also need to have enough coming in to support them. So its a great mesh between the two.
And in very un-Bargain Hunting Mommy on the Go! fashion I'm planning what has turned into a very extravagant 4th birthday party! Oh my goodness are parties crazy these days. Made more difficult by the fact that I taught my almost 4 year old how to reason. I swear she'll be a lawyer when she's grown with the way she can argue a case! She initially wanted her party at the pool but its insanely structured and quite honestly.. they're too young to allow me to prepare things and have them in the pool. I'm also not sure that even with my weight loss I want to be parading around in a bathing suit! LOL.
So at long last we finally agreed on going out for Chinese Food... menu of Wonton Soup & Chow Mein as chosen by Tala (I snuck in some veggies... lol)... and not only that... Tala has designed the most amazing birthday cake ever. We have the most amazing bakery ever here in town (Baker Boy - yum yum yum!)... and so she headed in and had a long talk with the cake decorator on just how she wants her cake to look. She even requested to add strawberries & peaches inside. My little girl is growing up so fast!
Oh and apart from all my great Christmas shopping found here the girls will be extra spoiled with 2 Christmas Parties this year! My work & my Dad's work are both sponsoring kids Christmas Parties so they're ecstatic about that. Especially as the one with my work is at the pool and I'm told is featuring Build A Bear (ok so I'm excited about the Build A Bear part... the kids are in the dark about that surprise!).
And so that is my itty bitty teenie weenie update for yall!
I'll be back later tonight to post Giveaway #9!

Its no secret why Mabel's Labels won the 2007 Savvy Mom Entrepreneur of the Year award! Their products are amazing, innovative, and they do exactly what they're supposed to do.
Today's product spotlight is not necessarily a Christmas Present. It is much more important. It has to do with the safety of our children during this busy holiday season and beyond.
The wristbands are strong enough that they will not be easily ripped off the hand. There are 5 choices of design that will please any little boy or girl. Both my girls are in love with their wristbands. The cost is $21 for a pack of 30 wristbands. A small price for piece of mind when you're out and about. The labels will come personalized with image of your choice (we chose the bzzz ones), and up to 50 characters!Kid safety products are designed to give parents peace of mind.

Now let me tell you that I had the hardest time selecting a couple designs to share with you in this post. It was no easy task and I`m sure that you will all agree the Erica has done an amazing job in designing her notebooks. Featured to right are the following designs: Cheezies (yes Cheezies - how cool is that!), Raspberry Sorbet, Fruit Notebook Set & Red Poppies.Thank you for your kind words! My ideas come from a slew of places but the common origin is food. My interpretation is either literal (like my doughnuts journal) or suggested (like my peppermint candy journal). Ideas for products are usually a random occurrence but lately, I find myself bombarded with ideas while riding the train.I was very fortunate to receive the Peppermint Candy Journal from the Architechural series. The quality is amazing! Erica has given her notebooks immense thought and attention to detail. The thing that struck me the most about this series of notebook is how it is bound, but still lays flat when opened. I hate it when I have to right with the notebook I`m writing in to get it to stay flat. According to Erica`s Esty Shop these journals are:
And not surprisingly she cannot live without:
Colored Pencils. They represent the first tangible phase of an idea. They help me to capture on paper, what exists totally in my head. I go through them by the dozens. I also can't live without black coffee, my ipod and vanilla soy ice cream.
This set of journals are also environmentally friendly. Every stitch of these journals are made with recycled/eco-friendly materials--even down to the glue.Which is awesome! I love products and sellers who are making an effort to keep our planet beautiful for our children, and our children`s children. I applaud Erica for her innovation and for creating such a beautiful product!
The Peppermint Candy Journal measures 5"x7" and is stuffed with 70 pages of 100% recycled paper!

Erica has generously offered one lucky reader the chance to win any item of their choice from her shop! To enter head on over to Edesse Designs have a look around and then come back here and let me know what your favorite item is. It`s that easy!Posted by Imanoptimisticbeauty at 9:11 PM 88 comments Links to this post

Well as you all are aware I am always on the lookout for great deals on great products. Today after I went to work for no reason (no I'm totally serious - I showed up and my boss was like "What are you doing here?" And I was like "working", and he was like "no you're not", and I was like "yes I am", and he was like "no you aren't", and I was like "um yes I am", and he's like "you're not scheduled today". D'oh!) I wandered around downtown trying to find something to occupy my time.
Went to the bank and ran into my SIL and walked her to Tim Hortons then to her work. Stopped by my other job and laughed for a bit.
Enter Zellers!
I love Zellers for their clearance deals. When they want something out of the store the markdowns come out on force! Today was no exception.

What is there to say about Home Studio that I haven't already said, and said again? Home Studio is at this moment the creator of my favorite, can't live without jewelry items! Their Scrabble Pendants are of amazing quality. They look amazing on (I get multiple comments everyday regarding them and inquiries as to where they can get their very own). But more then anything I would have to say that the vast selection of designs available is the biggest selling point. There is literally a design for everyone on your list!
The prices are absolutely amazing. At only $6.95 per pendant you can afford to buy a couple for that special someone on your list! The pendants are easily changed in and out to create a beautiful necklace for every outfit you wear! I currently have 3 pendants and love them to pieces!
One of the things that truly struck me with Home Studio is the amazing presentation of the package when it arrives. Your pendants & chain each come packaged in their own little drawstring bag (up to 3 pendants in the bag). Perfect for gift giving. Both my daughters have adopted the little bags as their "purses" and carry them everywhere with pride.

Today's giveaway is a product that you've probably heard me rave about on several occasions! Ladybugs & Lullabies has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. And to be honest we have a massive collection! (see picture to the left!... this is only a very small percentage of the clips that we have).
When Allyson contacted me about the possibility of sampling a brand new product that she is launching I jumped at the opportunity! Its not everyday that you get to try out a new product that is sure to take off.
